The Lady of the Shroud Customer Reviews
:- 3.0 out of 5 stars from Backpacker -- Is the middle worth wading through beginning and end : The title lured me and the author who write Dracula of course. To be honest the first and last parts of this book tedious for me with details, more telling than showing ( Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2020 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Beverly -- Excellent : It's by Bram Stoker. Rupert leads an amazing life. He understands human nature and knows how to use that knowledge. Intrigue, action and romance. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2021 )
- 3.0 out of 5 stars from Kindle Customer -- This is a book : I started reading this book with no previous exposure to this author. While there is some good writing his method of using different views can be confusing and make some reading boring. This book is for a rainy day with nothing else to do. - 3.0 out of 5 stars from CML -- Writing style is difficult to get used to : Although this novel is a work of Bram Stoker's, it's hard to stick with because of the style he chose for writing it. The story is told through a series of letters written from the main character to his various family members and friends. The style was interesting at first but becomes tiresome after awhile. - 4.0 out of 5 stars from Eclectic Reader -- “The Very Land of Moonlight” : As long as there are readers of fiction and people who enjoy a thrill of the supernatural or “things that go bump in the night,” the name of Bram Stoker (1847-1912) is likely to be as immortal as his most famous creation, Count Dracula. It is just as likely that history will continue to view Stoker as a “one work wonder” even though he wrote and published a dozen novels and novellas, a number of short stories, and some non-fiction work. - 3.0 out of 5 stars from Isadora -- It's not Dracula. : If you are looking for another stunning book like Dracula by Bram Stoker...don't look over here. This book was, in short, a trudge. It does have some redeeming quality---it maintains the same creepy, gothic tone found in Dracula, and the plot is pleasantly surprising with many twists and turn: altogether it's wonderfully original, however... - 1.0 out of 5 stars from David G Heal -- Poor printing : The text has been converted to complete gibberish. No one will ever know what was meant. How somthing this poor could be put on sale I cannot imagine. ( Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Quinn Fox -- Unabridged reissue of a scarce (and fun) Stoker title : I am with the publisher and am writing to note that contrary to the way Amazon is advertising this book as of 8/20/12, it is NOT an abridged edition. This volume contains the complete, unabridged text of the novel, taken from the scarce 1909 first edition and includes a new introduction, annotations, and supplemental materials.
